Notes

  • A built-up area (obec) is the built-up territory whose start and end are marked on the road by the prescribed traffic signs (§ 2(cc)). A local traffic order can lower these limits, or raise the 50 km/h limit by up to 30 km/h (§ 18(6)-(7)).
  • The limit is also capped by the vehicle's design speed (§ 18(5)), and is 50 km/h while snow chains are fitted (§ 18(8)).
  • A road for motor vehicles is a road marked with the sign 'Silnice pro motorová vozidla' (§ 2(s)). Where it has no separated carriageways, a local traffic order reduces the limit to at most 90 km/h (§ 18(6)); on one with separated carriageways, a local order can raise the limit by up to 20 km/h (§ 18(7)).
  • A motorway is a road marked with the sign 'Dálnice' (§ 2(r)). A local traffic order can raise the limit by up to 20 km/h (§ 18(7)) or lower it (§ 18(6)).
