Notes

  • The Act (section 2(4), as amended by Act 637 of 2024) allows consumer fireworks only on 31 December and 1 January. Section 41(1) of the executive order still reads '27 December to 1 January', which is the wording from before that amendment; the Act and Borger.dk both give 31 December and 1 January. Category F1 is exempt from the use period.
  • Category F1 (low risk, minimal noise, for confined areas) can be sold from age 15, is not tied to the 15 to 31 December sale period or the 31 December to 1 January use period, and some F1 articles can be sold by self-service.
  • The executive order sets age limits for selling consumer fireworks (18, or 15 for category F1). No minimum age for using them was found in the texts read.
  • Minimum distances for consumer fireworks (executive order section 43): 100 m from buildings with an easily flammable roof, from stacks and stores of flammable material, and from conifer, heather or other flammable vegetation; rockets 10 m from building openings and 200 m from those roofs and areas. The distances double downwind. Not applicable to the F1 articles that may be sold by self-service.
  • A permit from the municipal council is needed for most use of fireworks, but not for consumer fireworks (executive order section 32(4)).
