En breve: Federal law treats a bicycle assisted by a low-power motor that cannot exceed 25 km/h as a non-motorised vehicle, and exempts such vehicles from registration.   • Ley General de Movilidad y Seguridad Vial, Art. 3 fr. LXV. Traffic regulations are for the states and municipalities (Art. 49).
  • The federal law does not set this. Art. 49 leaves traffic regulations to the federation, states and municipalities, so it depends on the state or municipal regulation.
  • Art. 49 fr. IX makes a helmet mandatory for motorcycle drivers and passengers. The text read names no helmet duty for bicycles or assisted bicycles; state and municipal rules may differ.
  • Art. 29 deals with registration only. The text read does not state an insurance rule for these vehicles.
  • The federal law read has no separate class for assisted vehicles above 25 km/h. Not verified.
