Notes
- The KRESZ definition of a bicycle names only the 300 W motor limit. A speed at which the assistance must cut out was not found in the texts read.
- Only the main-road rule was found; a general minimum age for riding a bicycle was not found in the KRESZ text read. Passengers: a person aged 16 or over may carry a child aged 10 or under on the bicycle's child seat (§ 54(5)).
- Licence categories are listed in Annex 2 of Decree 326/2011. No text stating whether a bicycle with motor assistance up to 300 W needs a licence was read.
- Registration: bicycles are exempt from being put into service (Decree 326/2011 § 42(1)). Insurance: the compulsory third-party liability insurance applies to motor vehicles (gépjármű), a term that excludes pedelec bicycles (Act LXII of 2009 § 3(10)(a), § 4(1)). The Act does not define 'pedelec'; the KRESZ definition of a bicycle allows a motor of up to 300 W.
- The KRESZ defines a bicycle as a vehicle driven by human power and assisted by a motor of up to 300 W, so such a pedelec is a bicycle under the traffic rules. The definition names no speed up to which the assistance works.
