Notes

  • The FPS page lists the electric bicycle (up to 250 W, 25 km/h) among the types of bicycle and contrasts it with the speed pedelec, which counts as a moped. It does not spell out every bicycle rule.
  • No official page read states this for the ordinary electric bicycle, so it is left unverified.
  • Inferred from the FPS FAQ on cyclists, which says no bicycle helmet is compulsory and names riders of electric bikes as cyclists for whom a helmet is recommended.
  • This is how the FPS registration page reads; other FPS and portal pages say liability insurance is compulsory for motor vehicles in general and for mopeds.
  • The only source found for where a speed pedelec may ride is an old local police page, so this is left unverified.
