Smoke alarms in Sweden (2026)
Last reviewed: 30 October 2026
In short: Smoke alarms have been required in newly built dwellings since 1999. For older dwellings the national advice is that every home should have one, with the owner installing it and the occupier looking after it unless agreed otherwise.
