Towing trailers and caravans in Poland (2026)

In short: A car with a trailer or caravan is limited to 80 km/h on motorways. Category B covers trailers up to 750 kg, or heavier ones if the combination stays within 3,500 kg; B+E covers trailers up to 3.5 t.

Notes

  • Article 20(3)(2)(a) sets 80 km/h for a combination of vehicles on a motorway, an expressway or a dual carriageway with at least two lanes per direction. On other roads outside built-up areas the limit is 70 km/h.
  • Category B+E also covers a combination of a category B vehicle and a trailer with a maximum mass up to 3.5 t.
  • Not confirmed from an official source: the vehicle equipment rules for mirrors when towing were not read.
  • Not confirmed from an official source: the equipment regulation for warning triangles was not read. The Road Traffic Act only describes how a triangle is placed after a breakdown.
