Air passenger rights in Norway (2026)
Last reviewed: 30 October 2026
In short: Norway applies the EU air passenger rules: delays of 3 hours or more and cancellations can give EUR 250, 400 or 600 compensation, unless the cause is extraordinary circumstances. Care is due from 2 to 4 hours depending on the flight. Complaints that the airline does not resolve go to Transportklagenemnda.

Notes
- Your Europe states that the EU air passenger rules also apply to flights to and from Norway. The Commission list of national enforcement bodies counts Norway among the EEA countries applying Regulation (EC) No 261/2004. The Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority pages use the same delay thresholds and compensation amounts. The Norwegian implementing text itself (on Lovdata) could not be read.
- The Norwegian authority states the 400 euro band as flights within the EU and EEA countries over 1,500 km, and all other flights of 1,500 to 3,500 km. Compensation is not due when the delay or cancellation is caused by extraordinary circumstances that could not have been avoided.
- The page does not spell out the exact departure and arrival cases for Norway; the text above repeats the general rule and the sentence naming Norway.
- Luftfartstilsynet confirms the route (complain to the airline, then to Transportklagenemnda via Norsk Reiselivsforum). The Commission list is dated 30 January 2024. Whether Luftfartstilsynet is a separate enforcement body was not confirmed from a readable source.
