Notes

  • These are the levels in the Fiscal Code below which products bought and carried occasionally by a private person are considered to be for own use. Occasional transport is judged on criteria set by a joint order of the customs and tax authorities, which was not read.
  • The 90 litres covers wine, of which at most 60 litres may be sparkling wine.
  • Directive 2007/74/EC allows 200 cigarettes, or 40 where a Member State applies the lower limit to travellers other than air travellers. Which choice Romania applies, and for which border, was not read.
  • The Fiscal Code exempts imports that meet the conditions of Directive 2007/74/EC. The Directive exempts 1 litre of spirits over 22% vol. (or 2 litres of drinks up to 22% vol.), plus 4 litres of still wine and 16 litres of beer, for travellers aged 17 or over.
