Notes
- The District definition of tobacco product covers products made or derived from tobacco and electronic smoking devices; it does not name tobacco-free nicotine pouches. Under federal law any product containing nicotine is a tobacco product that cannot be sold to under-21s.
- Exemptions in 7-741.03 include tobacco specialty stores, tobacco bars, outdoor restaurant areas and hotel rooms rented to guests.
- Smoking is unlawful on public passenger vehicles with 12 or more seats, including Metrobus and Metrorail cars, and in Metrorail stations. District government vehicles and taxis carrying passengers are covered by the separate smoking restrictions in D.C. Code 7-1703.
