Notes

  • Possession in compliance with KRS chapter 218B (medicinal cannabis cardholders, cannabis businesses) is outside the offence. The text read has effect from 1 July 2024.
  • Sale to consumers is licensed only under the medical cannabis law (chapter 218B); there is no adult-use retail. The licensing rules were not read.
  • The statute refers to cardholders and cannabis businesses under KRS chapter 218B. The qualifying conditions and purchase limits were not read (the Office of Medical Cannabis site returned HTTP 403).
  • Only licensed cannabis cultivators and producers may grow cannabis; medical patients may not grow their own.
  • Only registered or visiting patients may use cannabis. Smoking is never allowed, vaping is banned in public places and on public transport, and use is banned on school grounds and federal property.
  • Patient cards are for Kentucky residents. Visitors aged 21 or over with a valid out-of-state medical card and a qualifying diagnosis are covered.
