In short: In Manitoba provincial parks, fireworks may not be possessed or ignited without a permit from the minister, and the province can restrict fireworks in areas under provincial fire restrictions. Notes
- No provincial or territorial rule on consumer fireworks could be verified. The federal rules apply (aged 18 or over; see the Canada page) and municipal by-laws may set sale periods, use periods and banned places.
- From the Manitoba government wildfire page (read 9 October 2026). The page names fireworks among the activities the province can restrict; the restriction itself is issued case by case and is not a standing rule. No provincial rule on age, sale period or use period was found in the Manitoba Fire Code (M.R. 82/2023) or The Wildfires Act (C.C.S.M. c. W128, read for fireworks). Municipalities set their own burning restrictions and by-laws.
- Park Activities Regulation, M.R. 141/96, s. 23(1) (read 9 October 2026). Section 23(2) also says a parent or guardian of a minor must not allow the minor to possess fireworks, firecrackers or a sky lantern in a provincial park. The rule covers provincial parks only; elsewhere municipal by-laws apply.
