Notes

  • The Act sets penalties by kind of conduct, in the Part headed 'Minor offences'. Schedule 1, Part 3 lists cannabis among the controlled plants. Any police diversion or cautioning practice was not read.
  • The Act contains no personal-use allowance. The traffickable quantities in Schedule 1 (for example 1 kg of cannabis) matter for presumptions of intent to sell, not for lawfulness.
  • The Tasmanian Department of Health pages on medicinal cannabis returned 403 and the Internet Archive had no usable copy, so the Tasmanian prescribing rules were not read.
  • Recreational use is prohibited, so this field does not apply and has not been given a value.
  • The Road Safety (Alcohol and Drugs) Act 1970 could not be located on legislation.tas.gov.au in time, so it was not read.
