Notes

  • Article 107 lists the maximum speeds that state and municipal traffic regulations may not exceed. The older Ley de Vialidad y Tránsito para el Estado de Chihuahua was not repealed and still sets higher urban limits (60 and 70 km/h).
  • The Ley de Vialidad y Tránsito (text including the reform of 8 August 2026) still gives 60 km/h on preferential, feeder, secondary and side streets (Art. 84) and 70 km/h here (Art. 86), unless a sign shows another. These figures are above the 30 and 50 km/h ceilings in Art. 107 of the Ley de Movilidad y Seguridad Vial (in force since 1 January 2025), which does not repeal the older law. Which figure applies in practice was not established.
  • Art. 85 was reformed by a decree published on 8 August 2026 (POE 63); before that it gave 30 km/h. Art. 107 III A of the Ley de Movilidad y Seguridad Vial also sets 20 km/h.
  • The figure is the ceiling in Art. 107 III A of the Ley de Movilidad y Seguridad Vial, in force since 1 January 2025. Art. 85 of the Ley de Vialidad y Tránsito, as reformed on 8 August 2026, also gives 20 km/h.
