Notes

  • This rule has not been confirmed from an official source for this jurisdiction yet.
  • In Queensland a moped is a vehicle with an electric motor or an engine of up to 50 mL and a maximum manufacturer's top rated speed of 50 km/h that is not a bicycle. Larger or faster vehicles are classed as motorcycles.
  • The page treats moped riders as motorcycle riders. The helmet must comply with AS 1698, AS/NZS 1698 or UN ECE 22.05 or 22.06.
  • The CTP page speaks of motor vehicles in general. The Queensland registration page lists mopeds among the motorcycles that must be registered. This is compulsory third party (injury) insurance, not comprehensive cover.
  • This is the top rated speed in the Queensland definition of a moped. Faster vehicles are classed as motorcycles.
